It's so funny.

When I started doing stand-up, and a lot of stand-ups are like this, we take ourselves so seriously, right?

I remember I didn't cuss on stage, which is very funny to think about now.

I would only wear black for some reason.

Again, taking myself way too seriously.

And I wouldn't talk about politics.

Those were like my three rules for myself.

And it wasn't that I didn't have strong political opinions.

It was more so... One, I wasn't really sure how to make that funny yet.

But two...

On the left, you know, we're not always the most open to hearing from people who might have had certain experiences in the past.

And I wouldn't say that that's widespread, but there, you know, there's a certain sect of every political affiliation.

Yeah, and I didn't want to get canceled.

That's really what it was, right?

Because it's so interesting, too, what flies on a stand-up stage versus online.

It's like the things people get mad about online, they would never get mad at if you were seeing it in person.

And I think about that a lot.

I find that really interesting.

But no, I didn't talk about politics online.

And also in being in DC, being a DC comic, some of the jokes can get real, real repeatable really quickly.
