Hi, thank you.
Yeah, so basically it's a very similar technology.
You can also use ChatGPT, for example, like a companion.
You can form a friendship with it if you want.
You can talk to it like a friend.
I'm sure a lot of people do nowadays.
But there are platforms like Replica that we have also studied in our research work here that are dedicated to making this
using similar large language models that you mentioned, technology, similar technology that ChatGPC uses, but to offer you this virtual friend.
So your friend basically has a character, has a name.
So it just gives it a more realistic feel of an actual companion.
And let's say it's a similar idea behind it, but your Tamagotchi here would be a little bit smarter, gives you like, you know, answers you back when you talk to it and all that.
But I'd say it's a similar idea.
Yeah, so basically what happens with everything new that comes out, usually there is a lot of hype around it, especially if it's like, let's say, an exciting technology, like things like ChatGPT.
But even if you think of, you mentioned Tamagotchi, and let's think of like toys even.
If there is a really nice, exciting toy that comes out, all of a sudden it might go viral.
A lot of people will start using it.
um but we might not know what they actually do to us to our brain like of the users of those uh new toys or new technologies or might be even a new food new type of food a new type of snack you know so it might do something to your body or to your brain depending on what what it is and um so what we wanted to do is that
to figure out what is the actual impact of interacting with these AI companions beyond this initial excitement that, oh my God, there is this, you know, I can have a virtual friend and I can tell it whatever I want to tell it.
That sounds really exciting, right?
Like finding friends is always hard, even if you are a very social person and extroverted.
