And then because you can't access the boots right now, you might go to an affordable department store or find like a cheap Timu version online and buy those boots instead.
Yeah.
And they look similar, but they're not the same.
They're not the ones you really wanted.
They're a consolation prize, right?
Guilty.
So you've had that little dopamine hit.
and you think you've kind of scratched the itch of the thing, but then you haven't really scratched the itch.
You're still thinking about the other items.
So maybe you go and you buy like a $200 pair of the expensive boots instead, and they're still not the ones that you wanted.
So now you've got like two subpar versions of the boots.
And you're still thinking about the original item.
And by that point, you've almost like spent enough money to justify buying them in the first place.
That's why I call it a consolation prize.
Cause you should have just, you know, I guess my theory is don't buy anything at all or save up, give yourself the grace and go, okay, I'm going to save up and I'm going to buy the original thing.
you know, that I really have my heart set on to get that, you know, to get the satisfaction of buying it.
And when I've done this, when I've actually bought the thing I really wanted, I felt so much pride in wearing it.
And I felt for that reason that I've ended up wearing it more and enjoying wearing it more and got years of wear.
But,
But on the other side of it, the cheaper things that I bought, I don't end up wearing them much because they're kind of like my dirty little secret.
