So again, if we're saying that, if Reform UK is saying...

taking down the flag is a political move by them, then it kind of follows that even having it up is also a political statement of sorts.

So again, it's just making the point that it's giving employers another reason not to do this because it doesn't fit with their usual policy of political neutrality.

The fourth reason I'm broadly calling the ick factor is

Puberty blockers, the reality of so-called gender affirming care, the cross-dressing, what's a cross-dresser versus a trans woman?

These are all very good questions that employers are starting to ask.

There's also a level of sexualization, which is a big part of why plenty of perfectly sensible gay men and lesbians have really gone off Pride, because it puts them next to all sorts of people and messaging that they don't want to be associated with, especially with children around.

In line with the accusation that Pride is just full of straight people this year, I actually went along when lots of my gay friends didn't bother.

And I can report back.

It was a really hot day and there was generally a reasonably good vibe, I thought.

Frankly, there were lots of

women there who thought they were on a sort of, they looked like they were on a hen night, frankly.

I don't know how engaged they were in the political aspects of it.

I think a lot of the people just don't think about this stuff very deeply, to be honest.

But I think what did stand out, especially around the trans and non-binary stage in Soho Square, was that I did see some quite dubious characters around.
