So I think that's an interesting aspect. matched

Uh perhaps because of the volatility in the US dollar, uncertainty about the direction of the US dollar, and maybe more people seeing it down. matched

But then also in regards to the um correlation between asset prices during that sell of matched

That we did see in April, especially with longer term yields rising, the US dollar falling and risk assets falling. matched

Um, some participants noted that that could be a durable shift uh and uh that the perceived safe haven status of US assets could have long lasting implications for the US economy. matched

So these are not only things that uh a few people in the market are talking about, these are things that policymakers are time are trying to grapple with. matched

And I had the privilege yesterday of uh being in the audience matched

uh to to the Australian Treasury Secretary when it was addressing the Australian business economist. matched

And he was also talking about many of these themes, using that fairly robust language that the ECB was using relatively recently. matched

And in his characterized and in his characterization, he said the US administration has made it clearer that it intends to reshape the global economic and political order to further its interests. matched

In doing so, our key security partner and the world's dominant financial power has pitted its matched

itself against China, the world's dominant manufacturing power and country with significant influence on our prosperity. matched

So uh I I thought that was pretty robust language for a public servant. matched

Yeah. matched

Uh perhaps but also um for an Australian investor you have to also um think about uh the currency imp implications in that environment as a a as well. matched

So um so I th I I think that may be a factor that some investors i in Australia are starting to incorporate more m more widely. matched

Yeah, it's really, really interesting. matched

And uh I guess uh many countries are still trying to work out uh the rise in trade tensions due to political fragmentation. matched

Uh is that gonna be net uh inflationary for their respective economy or is it gonna be net d disinflationary? matched

Uh and at least our own Reserve Bank, Reserve Bank of Australia and also the Treasury Secretary, uh seems to have come around to the view that uh in the short term at least maybe it's net disinflationary, uh mainly because uh if matched
