And so it's you know, more historically it's been used more to support liquidity.
But it has been kind of, you know, a bit of a kind of operation twist of sorts, if you like, in terms of buying back at the longer end and issuing um shorter duration.
And so I think here, what's important, you know, the the absolute size of this, the the policy it itself uh is probably not huge.
And certainly the numbers aren't huge in the scheme of the US Treasury market, but certainly the timing of the announcement, it was just a couple of weeks after the latest.
this quarterly refunding announcement.
It's a couple of hours before that um they, you know, were set to issue a um a 20 year uh Treasury.
And so I think it is kind of a bit of a um certainly a bit of a notice of intent that the Treasury has kind of seen what's going on in in longer end yields and is, you know, doing taking a couple of steps to um to respond there.
So I think the key takeaway here is none of this changes the fundamentals, those kind of longer run pressures that were were driving um that
that upward pressure on on longer un yields.
But you know, what the Treasury has done is kind of, you know, bought a bit of a bit of a reprieve from from the trend and we've certainly seen that in um a a fallback in in longer un yields overnight.
Yeah, well what yeah, I think what we're seeing is we did see a little bit of kind of, you know, twist flattening if if you like.
So we did see this move very much led by the long end.
And I mean o over the last twenty four hours or so too, yields are actually one basis point higher or so.
Um I mean, you know, very little in terms of um data drivers and nothing in the FOMC minutes to kind of get those uh those near term uh Fed expectations particularly excited.
And so it is playing out in, yeah, the the steepness of the curve and and
Weighing on longer on yields rather than the across the whole curve.
And
Yeah, that's right.
So that was, yeah, Alphabet issuing in in Australian dollars.
Um and as you say, the largest uh um in kind of Aussie markets history there in terms of a s a single corporate issuance.
