Democrat leaders in Congress marked five years since the January 6, 2021 riots at the U.S.

Capitol on Tuesday when demonstrators protested President Trump's 2020 election loss.

Speaking to reporters on the Capitol steps, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer urged Americans to never forget that day.

Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died the day after the riot.

He was assaulted by demonstrators and died of natural causes.

The White House released a webpage contesting many of the day's events.

On the first day of his second term, President Trump granted clemency to nearly 1,600 people convicted in connection with the riot.

And Michael Reagan, the oldest son of former President Ronald Reagan, has died.

A statement from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation saying Michael, quote, lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose, and an abiding devotion to President Reagan's ideals.

A successful author, nationally syndicated radio talk show host, and sought after public speaker, Michael used his voice to champion freedom, personal responsibility, and the principles that define his father's presidency.

Michael Reagan is 80 years old.
