What we've seen is that hourly wages have gone up for teens.

In Texas, the minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

None of these teens are making that.

Anywhere from as rural as in Anthony, Texas to the Houston suburbs, teens are making more than that.

They're making $10 an hour.

They're making $11 an hour.

In Connecticut, where the minimum wage is $15.69, teens are making that plus tips.

So it's actually closer to $20 an hour.

So hiring managers have to cultivate an environment that is teen friendly now.

They need to have an environment where teens can feel comfortable working.

In Mystic, Connecticut, an ice cream shop owner allows his teens to continue working in hours where, you know, there isn't much business.

So they're able to socialize and have fun with each other.

That way, knowing when business picks right back up, they'll be back to work.

No, it's not all about friends.

I talked to Ethan Arden, a teen in Texas, who said that the pandemic greatly impacted his social skills and his mental health.
