Um that safeguards have to be taken during trial, during depositions to protect the confidentiality of that information.
And and things along those lines so that it's not just simply a court order that says you have to produce the records, but you have to
produce the records and handle them in these specific ways.
Right.
You'd need to keep them on you know under seal and the court record and uh those sorts of things um to be considered if they're presented if the records are actually presented in court and a later uh
aspect of the proceeding.
Um, but when when a hip hop permits disclosure, you have the right satisfactory assurances or you have a court order, does that mean that the provider should produce everything requested?
And that I I think that can sometimes involve a conversation with the party issuing the subpoena to clarify that you're what you're providing is what you're required or permitted under HIPAA and not necessarily everything that they want or that the redactions um
You know, reflect information that isn't responsive to their request.

Um there's an exception for law enforcement.

Um and there's uh that sounds like it would be easy, but um every time we've had to respond to one of those requests, we go go back to the regulation, we go back to the research and
