We had the lead in game five.
So, I mean, we were good enough, but the Royals, their bullpen was so good.
So when they got the lead or they tied you, man, they were tough to hit.
So, and we, you know, but I go back and it's going to sound like an excuse and that's okay.
But, you know, I will certainly try to defend it to this day.
But we had six days off.
That's true.
You know, and you go back and we can go back, Courtney, and look at all the teams that have, you know, qualified for the playoffs in the last three years who have these four and five days off before they play.
How many of them lose?
Because baseball is an everyday game.
and we were red hot when we swept we swept the cubs we were red hot murphy was i mean incredible and so we were red hot going into the world series and all of a sudden we sat for five days didn't do it you'd practice and i called everybody i knew to hey what can i do you know how can i instill some energy and so jim whelan said well pipe in crowd notes do your practices uh
I remember Tony La Russa said, well, I brought in minor league teams to try to play it.
Don't do that because it doesn't work.
And Joe Torre said, make sure your closer is ready to go because that's what I did.
Well, he had the greatest closer of all time.
No kidding.
Pretty easy to say.

But I had all these ideas.
