So, yeah, I guess right away I think that's a really compelling idea.

And then also the fact that it really does seem to be Paul that gets her into cooking.

Yeah.

I mean, she describes him as kind of like as a wine aficionado.

He's kind of seems like a bit of a foodie.

And so I think this is like the most non-toxic way in which a partner's interests can actually help you grow as your own individual person.

Yeah, because that's what it does feel like is like a world opening or a fire being lit rather than, yeah, you're going to like Wilco because I like Wilco.

Yeah, I mean, I think she's bumping up against, without really talking a lot about it, which I think is a fair criticism, but I think she's maybe talking a little bit about some of the misogyny that she's bumping up against here.

And then also she is an American kind of fish out of water here.

And...

These seem like legitimate criticisms of the school and something I think, again, we can extend to other art forms, rather creative endeavors.

You know, I've certainly taken improv classes where maybe I had a good teacher but took issue with the way that the school was run or felt like I was being viewed as more for my tuition than for what I was actually trying to learn there.

Completely.

I felt the exact same way about that.

And then also, I think there's something honest, if not perfect, about this idea of like, in theory, I understand what's so wrong about what's going on with McCarthyism, but I'm annoyed with these protests because I hear friends talk like that all the time.

Like, oh, God, there was traffic because of a protest.

And it's like, yeah, the idea of a protest is that it is disruptive.

And you're not impervious to that just because you're on the side of the protesters.

Yeah.
