It's a very, very, very hard thing to do, right?
Because illegals will marry an American and they'll have a baby, okay?
And it just gets messy, messy, messy.
Then you go around and pick them up and they run over the back fence and there's a police chase.
It's messy.
It's ugly, okay?
So why don't we prevent that happening in Australia so we don't even have to deal with that in the first place?
And that's why I've been saying we should have a five-year immigration pause.
Just let's stop for five years.
There can be some exceptions, not many.
But we have a five-year pause, but I don't want viewers to think after the five-year pause it's back to business as usual.
No, because a really important, just as important as the pause, is a five-year debate, a respectful debate, a sober debate for five years in this country, in venues like this, in the parliaments, in the newspapers, okay, TVs.
We have a debate about what's the optimal immigration program for the next 50 years.
Mm-hmm.
Let's get it right.
Because if we get it right, it'll be terrific.
Terrific for us, terrific for whoever we decide is going to come into this country.
But if we keep going on the current track we're going on, which is all around the Western world, the left have got this policy, bring in left-wing voters.
Bring in people who are going to require a lot of government services.
That's been their approach.
