I'm not saying we have to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
I'm going to graduate here in less than two weeks.
But I do think Stanford, you know, needs to have a more honest conversation about what's going on here.
Yeah.
Well, it's so interesting, right?
Because John Hennessy is incredibly responsible for cultivating this no boundaries relationship.
He is responsible for making Stanford into, you know, the top fundraising school in the country.
He builds more than 70 new buildings in his tenure, driven by the sort of coziness of Silicon Valley.
And even he is like, this mythology is wrong.
Some of the image that has been created here is actually harmful to a certain degree.
And certainly I've seen that with students, right?
Kids here have been raised on the idea that they can be like the frat guy who wanted to send disappearing nudes to a girl and by doing so became the world's youngest self-made billionaire.
He created Snapchat.
They hear about the two students who got food delivered to their dorm and became billionaires by creating DoorDash.
So there's this mythology created.
And now...
You know, this place is trying to replicate the success of a system that was until very recently an incredibly different place.
That hacking sessions now, you know, have corporate sponsors.
That the thing that you work on in your dorm room is not just for fun.
You're going to put it on your resume, right?
