You get to be known as a place where people want to play, and that's huge.
And then guys like, wave their no trade to come here, want destination and free agency, or a guy who gets kind of like hosed in the market will come back, like Dex on a one-year deal.
And he just wanted to be part of it, because he was a big part of the building.
He wanted to see it through.
So just all different ingredients of what was set up a magical year for us in 16 where we were on a mission.
I think it's important too, bringing in Dex.
You can't just bring in a guy where Dex maybe had a little history in Colorado to a team that doesn't have established guys already.
That will welcome him, right?
Because I remember with the Yankees, you bring in a polarizing figure like Juan Soto,
to a massive clubhouse ready that you have Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Garrett Cole, a lot of clouded guys there, and you bring in another superstar, it doesn't always work.
First of all, reputations aren't always accurate.
A lot of guys spend time cultivating their reputation as a teammate, and it's not always the right way.
So you've got to talk to guys who are in the clubhouse with them who really know what a player is all about.
Secondly, like how a guy behaves or in one market might not translate to another and how a guy acts at like 24 isn't how he's gonna act at 20 years old.
Guys change, we're human beings.
Like it's, you know, you go a long way like seeing what guys bring to the table instead of saying like being worried about what they might not do.
That's not perfect.
That's a great example.
He ended up being like the best teammate.
