I'm Jake Brennan, and on the Disgraceland podcast, I explore the wild lives of rock stars and unbelievable true crime stories from music history. These are the stories you haven't heard, the kind you'll end up telling someone else. Like the time Paul McCartney spent in a notorious prison or the bizarre crime Lady Gaga is accused of. Or that time Blondie's Debbie Harry escaped Ted Bundy. Listen to Disgraceland on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Welcome back to another episode of Level Reunion. Me and my partner, David Ross, are joined by three-time World Series champion, the greatest executive in baseball to ever do it, the GOAT, Theo Epstein. Theo, welcome to the show. Thanks, Rez. I thought I told you to take it easy on the intro. Yeah, well, we can't, bro. We can't. This is fun for us, man. We've been looking forward to this for a long time, man. We appreciate you doing this, obviously. We love you to death, but... Yeah, we've been telling these stories. And to get you here at the end, it's going to be really fun. We just got off the golf course. We're here at Tamarack Country Club here in Greenwich, Connecticut. Had a great match. Well, not great match.
Theo Epstein 3:16
Theo and I were on the team. Rossi and Theo's good friend, T.O. waxed us on the course ross he needed a morale boost he's doing bluetooth ads and stuff yeah he had to make a program about himself ross has been unemployed for too long now so his golf game is off the charts that's right that's right um take us through your journey right you break this curse with the red sox you are 28 years old you get that job You have such an experience there and then you come to Chicago, what, in 2011 to 12, right? That was your first year? Yeah. Took the job in October 2011. And all the experience you brought from the Red Sox coming to there and how did it all unfold? Yeah, that's a big question. Really, you know, when I was getting towards the end of my time with the Red Sox, I was just asking myself questions like, you know, what do I want to do with the rest of my career?
