I would say appalling, but that's a bit mean.

But it wasn't where you would hope it to be.

But to see now that consistent approach working well for all children.

So for our kids who are bright and who love it, they're loving the morphology and the extension of writing and things like that.

For our dyslexic children, they are being taught how to read and write.

And that...

as a parent of a dyslexic child, is amazing.

And seeing children who really struggle with reading, knowing that they can do it and to sound it out is huge.

I also see for our children who are neurodivergent, when you know that spelling is taught this way in year 0-1 and then they move to 2, the spelling is the same, the routine is the same, the complexity increases right through to year 6 where they're

Spelling really difficult words.

But actually, if you're a child who struggles with change and things like that, it's really great to know I'm going to spelling class.

I know spelling class.

I know it's the same.

The words are harder, the sentences are longer, but actually I can do this.

So for me, it's something I'm really proud of.

You know, we don't have children leaving school not being able to read.

And that's a win.

And I would say the same thing.

I would say go in with open heart and open mind and know that actually as teachers, we want your child to feel safe because when they're safe, they're ready to learn.

We want to have a positive relationship.
