How do you know, even when it's supposed to be off, that it's really off?
Terms of service is wide open because basically you can't use it unless you automatically say okay.

The problem we have here is that the television now has crossed a line.

And as you just saw demonstrated, it's a potential listening post in what is supposed to be, if we're talking the United States, the most constitutionally and socially protected space we have.

What you're seeing now is the convergence of intimate sensors, behavioral profiling, remote software, incredibly weak security.
And on top of that, two huge trends: a business model that assigns monetary value to observing the household.
and businesses and hotels and everything else and tracks maps and stores it and the government who still can't get enough data for surveillance, both active and passive, both covert and and overt.
doesn't require a cinematic villain.
I mean, some people think you know the classic, this is not Hollywood.
These are actually ordinary incentives.
