I was heartbroken.

I poured my heart and soul into not just that show for years, but my career over 26 years.

I began my career really longer than 26 years.

I began my career, my first byline in a major daily newspaper when I was 16 years old.

I poured my love into a country that didn't pour love back into me.

And I poured my love into a man that I'll tell you about off-air, Don.

And we had a breakup, you know, in an ugly exchange, but I think you might know him.

But anyway, we'll talk about it later.

So anyway, we ended our relationship and I was just heartbroken.

And I took to the pages because in the depths of my darkness, I felt alone, but I knew there were other Black women around.

crouched and crying in those dark spaces with me.

So this is not a memoir by any means.

It is just a very unfiltered version of what happened in my life and things that I went through navigating newsrooms from having a white woman throw money at me when I was at CNN to some of the things that I had navigated at MSNBC.

But again, no matter what you do for a living, I think you'll be able to relate to some of these stories.

So it's my heart and soul.

I bled on these pages and it really is just an homage to

to Black women that I'm so, so proud of.

And I hope that women feel hugged when reading this book and still feel seen in every single page.
