And the the president, President Trump is not as popular as as he was perhaps a couple of years ago when he was running for president second time uh to be before he was elected.
Do you do you think though Democrats will have a an easier time
uh drawing votes in in this election cycle.
Let's uh you know
Let's just uh r m talk about a whole range of issues here and I was gonna ask you about uh agriculture and trade and as a United States Senator these are would be issues that you would be expected to grapple with.
The agriculture economy in Kansas and elsewhere was struggling uh with low crop prices.
Beef prices are high, but
uh the people who grow corn and wheat and so forth were struggling.
The trade policy of the Trump administration has not helped.
Uh you know, it's it's it's undermined agriculture markets around the globe and other countries who have relied on US exports in the past have turned to other nations that had more stable
ironically, more stable political systems.
So what what is an answer there?
Just stop this tariff war?
Uh what would what would you like to do?
Seems like what's uh on the horizon, uh just speculate that get closer to the election there'll be a big federal checks cut to American farmers.
It's not you know, th they will take that money because they need to pay bills
But then I I I don't think you know, the system is built on subsidies, but I'm not sure that's really how farmers out there generally want to run their businesses.
They would like to have stable markets and they would like to to do this work and to make a reasonable uh wage.
And and these big government handouts just seem like
Political payoffs.
