And so what where does it stand right now?

Okay.

So let's now talk about the reform that's been implemented since the law was passed in twenty twenty four.

So you started with the universities and the colleges and you started by reshaping the curriculum and reading.

Do you want to begin there and just explain what's been done on these college campuses for the benefit of of students who uh plan to become teachers when they graduate?

Two new courses in the college curriculum and schools and colleges of education undergraduate level.

Mm-hmm.

Was there any element of the law that was passed a couple years ago that required that discredited methodologies be banned?

And what I mean is there's probably districts out there that don't do everything that the neighboring district does.

But some of those would be excellent programs and maybe others are suspects.

All right.

So that piece is educating the future teachers, something that was uh really necessary to carry this whole program forward.

So now let's talk about the existing professional teachers in Kansas, maybe eighteen thousand or so of them across the state, and what you're doing to work with them in terms of training and literacy.

If I could just jump in before we continue with this professional development, these coaches uh am I right to say that they're not uh employees of the school district and where the teacher teaches, because there could be uh a reluctance to reveal insecurities or personal issues that uh somebody has about this curriculum?

Really like a mentor and a and an ally.

So I if I'm not mistaken, about half of these eighteen thousand people have uh completed what is uh the curriculum that the state law requires.

Can you explain how you got to close to nine thousand people if five hundred have completed your new coursework?

What about early results of this?

I I'm I'm have to do the calendar in my math in my head, but I'm thinking that you've maybe had about one year, full calendar year of implementation here.
