And Abdul Al-Sayed is victorious. matched

It is not a rout like some people were expecting. matched

quite close about one and a half points with i think 96 97 reporting so like it's pretty much a done deal at this point um so this is also the most expensive democratic primary for senate in u.s history uh with actually hayley stevens i think vastly outspending el sayed yeah uh like i think she had 60 million dollars of outside money 70 was the last number i saw as of this morning well guys so how let's break it down what did we learn last night matched

Well, the Upper Peninsula is also heavily dominated by tribes. matched

And so that is a very different demographic and a different audience altogether. matched

And I actually, I'm not going to, he didn't say that I could share this publicly, but I got something from somebody from one of those tribes this morning that I worked with that matched

The Interior Department, because that obviously oversees Indian affairs across the country, and was saying Syed won the Upper Peninsula and 11 of the 12 counties where there are tribes in Michigan and the counties with public universities, except for Wayne and Oakland, which we'll talk about in a second why I think that is. matched

Conventional wisdom about liberals and rural voters is so wrong, and the political commentators and observers in D.C. matched

just keep refusing to learn that. matched

One of the big things here, and this is what you said, Rich, Syed showed up in these places. matched

And I do think that the tribes, because it's not an overwhelmingly large part of the population, but I think both Democrats and Republicans historically have ignored tribes. matched

Just, it is a thing, and we should have a show on that. matched

And I think it clearly had an impact on the Upper Peninsula. matched

But I do think to to Zach's point, the problem that progressives have, which continues to show up. matched

is they are not landing with black voters. matched
