Yeah, I think he should be in the Hall of Fame, Tony.
After Keith Hernandez, he is the greatest defensive first baseman that I've ever seen.
For at least a five-year period, he was the best player in baseball.
Now, the back injury derailed him.
His numbers do not match up with other first basemen in the game.
But given his defense, the records that he broke, his greatness for at least a five-year period,
is good enough for me.
And I was just doing something on the labor situation.
If the 94 season had been finished and the Yankees had won the World Series that year with Don Mattingly as their first baseman, Buck Showalter, I quoted years ago, saying he would be in the Hall of Fame if we didn't lose that because he never played on a World Series champion, and it was part because they didn't finish the 94 season.
So...
I understand anyone who won't vote for Don Mattingly.
If I had a choice, I would vote for Don Mattingly as a Hall of Famer.

Yesterday, Tuesday, we had Jason Benetti on and we laughed.
And I mean we laughed for over an hour.
He is so funny.
He is so clever.
And we got all sorts of people on.
