It used to get brought up in theatre productions I was involved in and a director would say, the stakes need to be raised.
And I thought, bloody hell, why do they talk about stakes?
However, during this, I thought, young, straight, academic family,
two wise and pithy children with gorgeous intellects and this very smart couple.
I thought, where are the stakes here?
