And I thought,
yeah, okay, I'm kind of living in that world, living in a country town with its wonderful characters.
And then as the stakes are raised, when this possibility, and so the story's told through the omnipotent narrator, but Miles, the father of the family, who's dealing with procrastination, he's over a decade into a dissertation on Tolstoy's village lifestyles and also Russian folktales.

And again, I thought, okay, where's the interest in that?
But then there are little...
flickers of he's possibly sliding into a depression.
Now, I didn't know that Daniel Mason, the author, was a psychiatric professor.
I thought, oh dear, we're into a territory, and I felt this fear, and there'd only be flickers of it.
And it was just a procrastination that, and even the narrator would indicate he's falling, he's falling.
Don't mention the train.
It doesn't end well.
That journey will not end well.
