Oh, very briefly.

Look, I really, really love this book and that I wasn't in love with it for the first 200 pages.

But it was still, oh, great characters, great characters.

And I was a little self-aware because I moved to a country town myself.

And my interest factor was there and it was more than pithy.

It was really hugely enjoyable.

But then when the stakes were raised, I was the end.

I was hoisting myself upon that stake.

and letting it pierce my flesh.

It was really wonderful.

So by the end, and unlike Kate, I haven't read Daniel Mason's previous books and now I can't wait.

I'm really looking forward to digging deep into them like a dog, like a truffle hunting dog digging through the floorboards.

Digging for truffles feels delightfully smushy, doesn't it?
