The incongruous book club continues.

I also had a neighbour drop around a beautiful Bildungsroman book called River Boy by a gentleman, Jim Ewing, Victorian, released on Ginnanderra Press.

A beautiful story about a young boy growing up in Warrnambool with his rather stoic Scottish parents.

I enjoyed it immensely.

And then in a lovely little bit of serendipity, I got sent Jock Sorong's soon-to-be-released book,

biography of Fletcher Jones called The Suitable Man.

And if you don't know the history, it's very Warrnambool based.

So Jim Ewing's Riverboy is based in Wollongong, in Warrnambool, I beg your pardon.

And Jock Sorong, A Suitable Man, the Fletcher Jones story, it's based around Warrnambool as well, where my father's family is from.

So there was a little bit of kismet there.

I also was lucky enough to get sent Michelle Johnston's just to be released new book, 50 Beating Wonders.

I love Tiny Uncertain Miracles so much.

And then she sent me a manuscript of 50 Beating Wonders.

If you don't know Michelle Johnson, she works as a surgeon in an emergency department in Perth Royal Hospital.

This is more of a memoirish talking about what it's actually like to work as a doctor in an emergency department.

But it's also mixed with

about the human body, about our bodies internally.

And I just, again, took so many notes and you won't take a step without thinking about what your valves and the push and pull of your ventricles are

Which sounds like a smutty euphemism.
