How did that happen?
Because if you're on this tiny island, I imagine the tiny island might not have a tattoo artist on there immediately.
How did you kind of get into seeing how the tattoo artists live and discover that to the point that a couple of years later, you're like, I want to do an apprenticeship?
Before you found out about that tattoo world, what is it that gave you those sparkly eyes that kind of attracted you?
You said that you liked the way they live, you liked the way they do their art, their crafts, and you wanted to do the same.
What aspects of what you've seen by visiting those studios kind of really motivated you to pursue that career?
The very traditional tattoo that is often associated with the Yakuza maybe.
Right, right.
Where they kind of maybe hide in unlabeled apartments and very traditionally by hand tattoo the full body suits or the full arm.
And you realize that this can be done here in Japan too.
That's right.
This kind of more modern, eccentric, community-based space where people do art and share a very intimate moment too.
I mean, getting a tattoo is something very personal that lasts forever.
And I guess you share a lot of moments and memories with the people that come into the studio too.
And so then you keep calling and like, hey, I want to do this, I want to do this.
And the guys say, no, you better go and continue the JET program or find another salaryman job.
No, no, no, I want to do this.
And you end up with a chopstick tattoo.
That's right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
