Still today, actually, Japan is probably one of the strongest magazine cultures.
You covered a lot of topics and you said they were kind of personal journeys.
Can you tell me a little bit about some that were very important to you?
I think there was even one about Kokeshi dolls.
How did these topics come up and what are you trying to figure out by researching them?
In Asakusa or somewhere.
Yeah, we just talked about it with Corey.
So a long personal discovery project highlighting kind of the people and their craft from the area.
So cool.
I have to add it to the list.
It's a bit far from Osaka, but I'll make it someday.
Your latest project now, another book, one of many you've written, is here on the table, The Japanese Tattoo.
Mm-hmm.
We're talking specifically about the traditional tattoos, some that may be stereotyped quite a lot.
And I think when we talk about Japanese tattoos, everyone has this image immediately of a Yakuza, maybe having the full sleeves or full body or full back or whichever they have.
It's a very complex topic.
Where do you think is a good starting point to dive into it?
Is it the history of it?
Is it what it is today or the craftsmanship as you were just talking about?
