Well, it's not the first office of AI.
The UK started its office of AI back in 2018.
The European Union started its office of AI two years ago now.
So we aren't actually technically getting to the first office of AI.
Not directly, but many of the ideas in the plan I've been suggesting in public and private to them.
So I'm pleased that eventually they've taken on the advice of myself and many of my other colleagues.
Well, they're really addressing the public's justified concerns they're having about a lot of intelligence.
For example, data centers being built in our backyards, that that needs to be done in a way that respects the local communities, that's sustainable and so on.
Concerns that people are starting to have about AI's impact on jobs, on young people.
And one that I'm really pleased with, very clear lines that we're going to protect copyrighted material and the work of creators.
Well, it's not the first Office of AI.
The UK started its Office of AI back in 2018.
The European Union started its Office of AI two years ago now.
So we aren't actually technically getting to the first Office of AI.
It's great it's got the Prime Minister's attention, and it's great that they're putting the decision-making right at the centre of government.
The Office of AI is going to sit in Department of Prime Minister, Cabinet.
You don't get any closer to the top of power in Australia than that.
It's a whole of economy transformation that we're going through.
So it should be a whole of government problem.
And so putting it right in the center of government, because it's going to involve, you know, legal changes, changes to, you know, the way we run our economy, changes to our national security.
