Having come in brand new, I was unsure if I was walking into this desire to turn everything into white ball cricket, but it's not that far from it.
So there's a deep love, respect and understanding both of the game itself but the value of Test cricket.
So that makes me warm inside.
That's good.
But there's also an understanding that there's so much growth
for the white ball part of cricket in India and everywhere else that they're still upside for the cricket to capture.
So that's the market that we've got to get to.
Not everyone does, by the way.
I think it's available, but it's on us, the owners are responsible on us to capture that and do a good job of it.
And part of me thinks that the reason that red ball cricket, test cricket is just so loved and adored by the Australian public is these moments where everyone knows at that time and at that place, that's where we go.
In early January, we all head to the SCG because that's when the test is on.
At Boxing Day, there are moments in our schedule and white ball cricket and T20 cricket has not got that luxury as yet.
So I think the owner's responsibility is on us to make sure that we create a platform for the public to love it as much as we think they should and could.
Here's the circular challenge that we have, right?
And they're not mutually exclusive.
I think you can have a whole segment of audience that loves white ball T20 cricket and a completely segment of audience that loves test cricket.
You know, I did a discussion not so long ago at Kuyong Tennis Club, which, you know, with...
70-year-old, lots of white males in the room, a very traditional crowd.
And one of the questions that I got was, I dislike T20 cricket.
I don't know why we play it.
