If they're coming from out of state, they need to obtain their marriage license in the county where they are getting married.

And then just a little caveat there, because it happened a lot when I was serving the lakeshore so much, and that is that they would get a marriage license for Oceana County,

and they'd be arriving from Chicago or something.

And once they got there, they thought, no, let's go to this beach up here.

And they'd be in Mason County.

And they'd be disappointed here.

Well, you can't do that because your marriage license, your out-of-state marriage license that you've got in Michigan has to be for the county that you're in.

So that has to be, they need to be aware of that too.

Once you know where your wedding's going to be, that's where it's going to be for your marriage license.

And that's for out of state?

That's only for out of state, yes.

Because when you're in state, you're getting your marriage license from the county of your primary residence.

Consequently, you can take that wherever you want to go.
