I can't even touch the book.

I don't go to the park.

I don't do yoga.

I don't eat well.

Over the course of a month and a half, again, so much of his book is about awareness, being present so you can be aware.

The awareness is dawning like, whoa, what happens when I drink is very shocking.

It's like vibrating out beyond the drinking itself.

It's really like kind of damaging everything.

And now I can see it.

And then I was walking to an audition one day in the city and it felt like I got struck in the head with a lightning bolt.

And again, this sounds comedic.

I guess it is comedic, but just, oh, I have a drinking burn.

Even though you had been saying to all your friends you were drunk.

These are strange truths that we might only be able to understand.

And how did you know to go to a meeting?

My experience with that was a little bit different as well.

It took me a long time, really.

I mean, I went to a meeting early on, but it took me a long time to really understand even what the meetings were.

with Eckhart and he was using teachings from the Bible of Jesus, had a relationship with Jesus, what he was, what I felt like he was when I was a kid that had gone away.

And so my sobriety was really in that.
