So apartments are relatively...
not unusual, but they've come on a lot very quickly.
And you've got this disconnect between people who live in possibly two-storey houses and suddenly apartments appearing beside them.
That's always going to be a problem of that transitional period.
But the infrastructure, in fairness, there's been a lot of studies recently, a lot of reports, and the National Development Plan put something like €22 billion into creating infrastructure for transport and not car-related transport.
but public transport that would encourage people to give them a choice.
And buses always follow development.
They never come before development.
Like I can think of one example of the Lewis in Cherrywood is the first example I can think of where some form of public transport came ahead of development.
That's very unusual.
Usually the transportation follows development.
And I don't want to kind of minimise, which is really a serious problem for people, but the concept of making omelettes and breaking eggs, like there's always going to be a tension.
at the start and once they know what the issues are then they can retrofit in by thinking building transport hubs for car parks is going to be at a cost of housing and I know where I would prefer to see more apartments built and for people to have houses because the children of the people who are complaining about the lack of car spaces might have to emigrate because they've nowhere to live so it's a real dilemma.
It certainly is.
It's both.
The problem in Ireland, we've always had housing first and then the infrastructure to follow.
You can see it across all the strategic development zones.
What you have to do is have housing and infrastructure.
