So I love, you know, I love classic rock.

I love power pop.

I love so many different things, country, R&B.

But for me, the thing that I come back to again and again is the blues.

I think it just taps into something very fundamental, very basic, very human, and it just transcends everything.

So if I'm feeling down or for that matter, if I just feel like I want to wail away,

it's probably going to be blues.

And the fact that, you know, it may be three chords and you're out doesn't hurt either.

If you're trying to chase folks away from the podcast, I'm your guy.

Oh, I would say, come on down.

First of all, the one thing that's so powerful about the Foreign Service is, you know, I did this for more than 30 years.

And I had the I started out at the State Department at the very beginning of the Clinton administration.

I finished at the end of Biden and I was back and forth between state and White House over three administrations.

I got to know hundreds, thousands of people who were foreign service officers, civil servants, you name it.

And what came across again and again and again was virtually each and every one of them was there.

because they wanted to do something for their country.

They wanted to be part of something bigger than themselves.

I could not tell you, Andy, who among them was a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent, or something else.

They were there to do the work of the nation.

And that's a really powerful thing to be a part of.
