The city stretched out before him, a new candidate somewhere in the darkness with whom he would merge eventually, and like the winged creature pass on what he had now acquired.
In time his shape would change, resembling more and more the winged thing, as with each victim he grew closer to it over time.
He felt a distant memory of his former self, like a distant murmur in the night.
He whistled softly to himself, turning to see the boy in the window again.
He winked and walked off as the night welcomed him for his own, and new bodies waited in the dark.
So that was an original story by William Bundy.
