Yeah, the East Rhytham Yorkshire, England's greatest county, so that's the famous thing about Yorkshiremen, you never ask a man if he's from Yorkshire, because if he is, he'll tell you, not that you did, and if he isn't, why upset him?

It's funny what you say, because I think that's really common amongst people.

Whatever medium they work in, the inspiration usually starts with a little island of something and then joins it maybe with other ideas.

I'm interested in sort of this story, particularly Walking the Park, there was some kind of very almost, well, where to begin, there's some very kind of archetypal material coming up there.

And I think it does have a way of demanding attention from us and particularly things that we're rooted in our own lives as well and relationships we've had with formative figures, such as fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, etc.

not not not just that but you know this there's deeper stuff there that seems to come through and um yeah this okay one of the things i was going to say before when you were talking was about uh why we write a story and and you know if you go to creative writing classes or you read the books on creative writing they'll tell you oh you know characters or plot if it's going to be genre fiction it's got to be plot driven if it's going to be literary fiction it's got to be character driven

So the characters can have nothing much happen to them, but if you're interested in them.

And also they say with genre fiction that characters don't have to be necessarily anything more than cardboard figures that do.

I mean, you know, they wouldn't encourage you to do that, but that's basically what they're saying.

But I mean, there's this whole thing.

Um, but which is about vibe and, and I think, you know, when you were describing that ride through on, were you on a bike?

Did you say?

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

In the, in the mist towards Halloween, that's even there just generated the vibe, hasn't it?

And this story walking the park was to me had a lot of that, um, you know, it was heavy on the, on the texture and the atmosphere.

Well, I mean, I think, you know, inevitably when you hear a story, you kind of, you compare it to other stories you've heard.

And one of the feelings I got was not necessarily the plot, but something Thomas Ligotti would write, you know, something like The Town Manager is a story of his where very often they're inexplicable, really.

You think, what on earth is this story about?
