I need to produce a lot of force to be able to stretch the tendons.
I need to be able to move consistently, which means I need balance.
I need to be in these basic human positions.
great now i have a mechanical model that i can move efficiently all right i want the pitch to move like this which means it has to spin like that which means my hand has to be on this part of the ball okay let me teach myself how to do that and i'll just do things on long time horizons that no one else will like i'll just spend an entire like year doing one thing until i figure it out well for most people like it took me
uh it took me i think i counted i was i threw like over 10 000 throws one off season um trying to learn my my sweeper damn i just would throw 100 pitches a day and just bash my head against the wall basically until i figured it out and then three and a half months later i came back with a new pitch and that made me an all-star which got me an extra like six million dollars next year on my contract
Nice.
And probably made me tens of millions of dollars for sure over the course of my career.
But yeah, most people are like, oh, I'm frustrated.
Like, I don't want to throw today or whatever.
The background of my phone from 2011 till November of 2020 was a picture of a Siam Award because that was my goal.
And so every day for 10 years, I looked at it and then trained and then chased that goal.
Almost quit twice, but didn't.
And then ended up getting it.
Let's go.
Yeah, I just look at things over longer time horizons.
If I can stay in the game, if I can stay on the field, I'll bet on myself to figure it out at some point.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Cause I realized it wasn't the thing that mattered.
It was like accomplishing something great.
