And so, yeah, during this period, like of all these nations being at war with Spain, privateers are just kind of going at it.
They're plundering ships and creating little like colonies and, you know, bringing like
England would send over governors like they took over New Providence Island.
But they were kind of just having their way over in the Spanish main.
Did the Spanish have privateers and buccaneers of their own?
Yeah.

It's kind of like almost like a mini war happening.
Exactly.
It was like it was very it was a lot easier for them to just send people out to be like fight each other.

They were just trying to disrupt Spain and take their stuff and the gold that they were plundering and all that.
And so that was the buccaneering era.
That's the 1500s.
That's like 1650 right into late or early 1700s.

I mean, they probably had another name for it, but that's kind of like overall.
Yeah, El privateers.
So nobody ever referred to themselves as a pirate.
