The issue that I had with the moves was more so
These are mostly bench guys on a good team, right?
These are mostly guys that are going to be coming off the bench, be your sixth man, seventh man, things like that.
And the Lakers are going to be slotting them a bit higher than that, at least based on the present roster construction.
And then when I look at the contracts, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that you're paid what,
Appeared to be top of the market value.
Also, years, when we look at what's happened around the NBA, we've got most teams are building in a lot of downside protection.
And the way they're doing that is by putting non-guaranteed money on team options, shorter deals.
The Lakers are one of the only teams to be giving out four-year deals to guys who project to be role players.
Fully guaranteed four-year deals.
With a player option at the end of it on top, like the player option should be the cherry on top, should be what you add in to get the deal done if you're paying below market value.
The Lakers, in my opinion, paid top of the market and then threw the player option on top of that.
And so that's where I like the players.
I don't like the values and I'm worried that that could create some problems as they're trying to build up the rest of the roster.
I mean, heck, if they had a little bit more cap space to play with right now, maybe that could change the way that the roster currently looks where they're missing at least one starter currently.
So that's the issue I've got.
Like the players, it's the contracts and the commitment to them.
They are all in right now on this group.
And if it doesn't work, it's going to be tough to get out of some of these.
I think he can fit, but are you getting the idealized version of him?
