Maybe it could be anywhere from three to five people.

So they don't overwhelm you with choices and they've done the hard work of narrowing down who they think would be good and available for the role.

And then as an author, I listen to all of the sections and then

I basically give them my suggestions of who I think would, you know, who I could picture doing a good job.

And there were it was Deepti and there was another narrator as well who I thought were probably the top two.

Deepti in particular, I was drawn to because I think she did a very authentic performance.

Indian accent.

She sounds like my mom, my mother-in-law, a lot of the aunties.

And that's because she, you know, she comes from that tradition as well.

She herself is South Asian.

She's a little bit older.

I didn't want an actor who sounded too young.

So I wanted someone who had that kind of feel for them.

And to be honest, out of all of my books that have been converted to audiobook, I get the most comments about Detective Auntie.

So I think the publisher did a fantastic job finding Deepthi.

And I also...

you know, immediately zeroed in on her.

I thought she'd be fantastic for it.

And I'm so grateful that she signed on to also narrate the second book, which will be out on March 31st in Canada, a little bit later in the States.
