and also in Scarborough, in the suburb of Scarborough, within Toronto, I've always felt like we're completely underrepresented as a city and also as a suburb.

And the East End of Toronto has had kind of like a questionable reputation.

You know, people who live outside of Scarborough will be like, oh, that's kind of a rougher part of the area.

And as someone who kind of grew up there,

It's home.

And so as a writer, I'm really inspired by the people that I meet and the places that I've lived, the places that I've experienced.

And I just initially I think I just wanted to welcome people to maybe a different part of the city or a different, you know, cultural group that they might not have been familiar with.

And so I was writing more about that.

And then as I kind of grew into my writing and I started writing my second book, I realized that readers are very interested in Scarborough and like the part of the East End of Toronto that I write about.

And it's almost become a touchstone.

So I started developing this fictional neighborhood of the Golden Crescent.

And I get to, you know, fill it with interesting people and interesting restaurants and things like that.

And kind of shout out, I guess, my city and also my neighborhood.

Well, thank you for that.

I'm so glad that

you know, as someone who is outside of the community that I'm describing, that you found it interesting.

That's so nice to hear as a writer and honestly is always my goal.

I always want to entertain my readers at the end of the day and make them come back for more.

Um, and it definitely is something that I think about as a writer.

I mean, when I first wrote Aisha at last, uh, way back, I was working on it.
