So I learned how to orgasm on my own, but I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to get there with a partner.

And this went on for years and years and years.

I started faking orgasms pretty early on because I was so embarrassed about this.

And it felt it honestly, it felt even more confusing that I could do it on my own, but I couldn't get there with a

partner.

I think, you know, if I had never been able to have an orgasm, that obviously would have felt really challenging too.

But I think it would have made a bit more sense.

Like, yeah, I can't do it at all on my own or with a partner.

There was this weird frustration of how is it so simple and straightforward for me?

But I just like when I'm on my own, but when there's another person there in the mix with me, which ultimately is like what I want to experience a lot more, all of a sudden it feels so much

And this went on even as I started studying to become a sex therapist, starting to do internships and you know, working with practitioners and starting to train.

And

That added this extra layer of shame on top of all of it.

That like I'm pursuing a career in this field.

I want to help people with their sex lives.

And I have this dirty little secret that I can't actually get there with a partner.

And I think it also goes to point out how difficult it is to find genuinely useful resources when you're struggling with orgasm.

Like I read all the freaking Cosmo magazines.
