Over the last four to six weeks, I've seen that defensive resolve and I've seen Riles implement his systems.

And I guess it's the fruits of the work and the effort and the time he's put into these young players.

And you're seeing that effort in the Roosters in the first half where we were incredibly resilient, even against Manly, where they were just knocking on our door time and time again.

And...

Even against the Bulldogs as well on the King's birthday, where the Bulldogs were absolutely throwing everything at us.

Despite them not being amazing in attack, you can only defend what you can defend right and what's coming at you.

Well, I mean, to be honest, he hasn't played majority of our games and there's been games where he hasn't been there and we've actually played pretty well.

And Volk's played well in some of the games he's come in.

Yeah, Volkman, Josh Papali, that combination as well sort of has worked well.

Yeah, well, I mean, look, that's the thing.

So I think what the mentality over the last season or two is the fact that, look, knowing that Mitch isn't available, it's the next man up mentality, but it's more around putting the belief and the faith in yourself that you're going to make a play.

You're going to bring something to the team that maybe Mitch isn't providing, but knowing that when he's back, you can add to it.

Well, yeah, exactly right.

And that's why I said it's the perfect Batman and Robin combination because you know that it takes all the pressure off Luai and enables him to play his game and his natural game and Moses' as well.

And hopefully, and we're all hoping, and this is unfortunately sometimes the traits of when you sort of age as a first grader where there's injuries and there's niggles, you know, they come and...

So it's just a matter of him staying healthy.

And we've been desperately unlucky with our injuries, but at the same time, Riles isn't using that as an excuse.

In his press conferences, it's, you know, he's placing accountability on himself and the players.

And I think that's translating into the attitude as well.
