Instead of constantly asking ourselves how we can become better at forcing the same behavior, we can start noticing what happens when we work with our natural energy rather than against it.
And for me, that is where human design becomes much more than simply learning your type.
It becomes an invitation to notice the patterns that have been exhausting you, to question the expectations you have unconsciously accepted.
and to consider what might change when you stop treating your energy as something that needs to be controlled and start treating it as something that can be understood.
I've talked before on this show about being a projector and about the bitterness that came up for me from living in a world that mostly wasn't built with my type in mind.
But I want to bring it back to energy specifically today because this is where I think it hit me the hardest and where I spent so many years misunderstanding myself.
For a long time, I measured my worth by how much I could produce in a day.
I thought productivity was proof that I was doing enough, that I was valuable enough, that I was moving forward.
If I wasn't completely exhausted by the end of the day, I felt like I hadn't really tried hard enough.
Rest often felt like something I had to earn rather than something my body genuinely needed.
And there was another part of this that was especially confusing for me.
Sometimes I could look at something, understand it very quickly, see the pattern, recognize what needed to be changed, and find a shortcut that made the whole process much easier.
Something that might have taken someone else hours could sometimes take me a fraction of that time because I had already understood the system behind it.
But instead of recognizing that as a strength, I discounted it.
I told myself it didn't really count because it hadn't been difficult enough.
Somewhere along the way, I had learned to associate effort with value.
So if something came easily to me, I assumed it must not be valuable.
I think that's one of the most exhausting things about trying to live according to someone else's definition of productivity.
You can be incredibly effective and still feel like you're failing simply because your process doesn't look like everyone else's.
Learning that my energy isn't built to generate in the same consistent way a generator's is and that it was never supposed to look like that didn't give me permission to simply do less.
