There's a story about how we got to today.

The path to this groundbreaking began in the early 2000s.

Between 2000 and 2003, the Cooperative Council of Ministries worked with the Board of County Supervisors to create a day drop-in pilot program.

the daytime drop-in poll program.

When the pilot program launched in 2003, it pro it proved something important.

It proved that there was a both a need and a willingness in this community to respond.

And what began as a temporary daytime effort became a permanent resource known as the drop-in center.

Now in

In tw 2010, that the uh center was renamed to the Bill Mayer Dropping Center.

And I want to spend a little bit of time just telling you who Bill Mayer was.

William Mayer.

was a well-known supporter of anyone in need and definitely our unsheltered.

And for from my research, he spent his years doing this.

I've uh done a little digging on him.

Uh he passed away April 25th, 2010, at the age of 57 years old.

Um and I find that uh interesting both because he lived in Fredericksburg but spent all

of his time and most of his time up here in Prince Lamb County, in particular the Woodbridge area.
