and i just didn't notice what i was doing and they go to a lot of taverns they're on a quest like there's taverns involved it was very funny that is yeah i know hilarious yeah um why is it important for people to pre-order books okay yeah can you run me through this this is like a huge conversation happening right now like when we're recording but i think it needs to be a conversation all the time
Basically, pre-orders do two things.
One, every pre-order teaches your publisher that people want to read your book.
That's huge.
If people pre-order the first book in a trilogy, you're going to get more marketing dollars for the second and third books in the trilogy, right?
So that really matters.
The other thing that pre-orders do, because you're pre-ordering from an indie or Barnes & Noble or Indigo or wherever, it teaches Barnes & Noble or Indigo or Amazon that people want these books.
And then they order more so that they have more available.
And then you get a bigger print run, right?
So it is literally the most important thing you can do for an author, whether you're a debut or not.
