That's a great question to start with.
Real-time payments have been around for over 50 years.
We now have over 75 countries on real-time rails that have come on at different times and for different reasons.
A lot of the international momentum, especially in the APAC region, was driven by government initiatives to digitize the economy, drive financial inclusion.
Several of these markets were not heavy card markets like the US, and their growth came largely on the backs of P2P and P2M traffic.
And while P2M is important in the US as well, the motivation and urgency to adopt real-time payment rails is not as strong, right?
Especially for consumers who love their cards and their rewards, me included, and banks that want their interchange revenue.
Merchants probably are the ones that want this the most, but they may not be willing to invest and they see demand from consumers and support from banks.
So in the US, I think the growth adoption drivers will be different from what we see in our global counterparts.
Maybe B2B payments, for example, will be the stronger candidate.
So everything you said there kind of makes sense.
We can't just take what we have seen in these 74 other countries and adapt it to the US.
Having said that, we as a provider have been in the real-time payment space for over 12 years globally.
And we have seen the growing pains, the successes, the user experiences evolve across these various markets.
And while I agree that not everything everywhere applies to everyone, that does not equate to nothing anywhere applies to anyone.
Man, that's a tongue twister.
