I think there's a lot of really hopeful things to be said about this.
But let me be a nerd for a moment.

One of the possibilities here is it helps with alignment.
It turns out when you see someone do something for reasons other than
pure self interest.

I would say that a theoretical economic model of this is not in a sense incommensurate with a sort of evolutionary perspective, presuming we're describing a generalized sort of incentive process in one that's playing out over evolutionary time on the other.
