I don't remember my parents being together ever really.

It's funny.

I wish I could bring her in.

I think she was like, I know this is a mistake, but I have to let this kid do what he wants to do.

Because she knows, you know, the reason why I'm not sad that my parents put up is because I can't even really imagine them getting along long enough to say, should we have sex?

So I don't understand how.

That how I came to be.

So she was like, knew who my dad was and was like, basically like, good luck with that.

I mean, you know, and also was like, anytime you need me, I'm here.

And so I used to call her every Saturday and just be like, I'm still here.

You know, so it was very we actually got closer while I was there.

She was in Stanford to get a PhD in English.

The hang-up was she wanted a PhD in African-American literature.

And at the time, Stanford did not give that as a degree.

They didn't think African-American literature was a thing.

This was the early 70s.

Yeah, even West Coast Stanford.

Yeah.

So crazy.
