The data coming out of China getting better in terms with less compute, as Elon Musk just referenced, but also just the whole makeup of the models themselves being open source versus closed.
And also, I would add to Elon Musk's voice on this, Jensen Wong came out recently and kind of laid the groundwork for backing this open source concept.
Because, of course, they want to sell more chips to whoever wants to buy them at the end of the day.
Yeah, some great points there.
I would just say that on the racetrack that is AI right now, the US is definitely leading the race.
However, and if we stayed on the same track, I think it'd be hard for China to catch up with the US based on the current trends.
However, I think what we're talking about is there's potentially a shortcut to get ahead of the US through these open source models.
And the
lower compute seemingly required to effectively get the same product.
And so I think China is quickly gaining on the U.S.
because of this.
And it really comes down to the cost of the compute or the cost to use the models at the end of the day.
So these closed models are very expensive.
You've heard about these token costs that companies are running into and running out of.
And now you're hearing these stories more and more about companies maybe switching to some of these open source models that are just much cheaper to use without much degradation in the output of them.
So that dynamic in a cost conscious world and companies that are trying to find the best values here for using these models, I think, gives China an advantage in that situation.
No, these comments were not generated by AI.
But yeah, we do in our business, we're just starting to use it within the registered investment advisor world, more so for just kind of research and compliance and those type of things.
So nothing too dramatic.
I'm still writing my quarterly letters and commentaries on my own, much to the dismay of a lot of people that think it would be faster just to have AI do the output.
